Pranab Mukherjee condoles loss of lives in Odisha hospital fire

New Delhi, Oct 18 (IBNS): President of India Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday written to Dr. S.C. Jamir, the Governor of Odisha , condoling the loss of lives due to a massive fire at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

In his message, the President said “I am sad to learn about the unfortunate massive fire at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar, in which a number of persons have lost their lives and many others are injured. I understand relief operations are currently underway. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured and the families who have lost their near and dear ones."

"I call upon the State Government and other agencies to take necessary steps to provide all possible help to the bereaved families as well as medical assistance to the injured. I am sure authorities will also take necessary measures to investigate the cause of the incident and put in place necessary remedial measures,"Mukherjee said.

"Kindly convey my profound condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons,” he said.
