Kolkata, Oct 24 (IBNS): A major fire broke out in a two-storey at contested Entally Motijhil area in central Kolkata on Monday after, which left two persons injured, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 12:35 pm.

As many as 10 fire tender engines, policemen and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the spot and firemen fought for nearly 3 hours to bring the massive blaze under control.

Two persons were reportedly injured in the incident and have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Exact reason behind the fire has not been known so far.

After primary investigation, a fire official told IBNS, "The fire might have started from a cooking stove and spread quickly."

Protesting against an alleged delayed intervention of fire tenders, locals staged demonstration at the area and threw brick-stones aiming at firefighters.

A heavy police force, led by DC-ESD Debasmita Das, reached the scene and brought the situation under control.
