Assam governor presents 4th Bhupen Hazarika National Award to Lou Majaw
The award consists of a citation and a cheque worth Rs. 51,000.
Speaking on the occasion Purohit while hailing Sharad’s efforts in restoring peace, mutual trust and human bonding said that associating itself with the icon like
Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Sharad has paid its rich tributes to the music maestro and his pan-Indian influence.
The Assam Governor said that Bhupen Hazarika was a towering and a great musician, singer, poet who projected Assam in the mainstream through art and culture.
He was one of the colossal cultural personalities of India with a deep social commitment and profound political consciousness.
He also exhorted that Bhupen Hazarika should be a role model who took to politics to serve the poor.
Terming that love for music is the love for motherland Purohit urged upon the people to take music as their vocations and serve the nation to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and comradeship.
He also congratulated Lou Majaw, and said that through his songs, he has curved a niche for himself.
Purohit also requested Majau to serve the nation through his music. His songs should strengthen the spirit of patriotism in the young generation which should inspire the young ones to learn music and create ripples in the society.
Lou Mazau while expressing his gratitude on being chosen for Bhupen Hazarika National Award said that he was deeply humbled and honoured for the love and respect that the award has given him.
He also thanked everyone and wished health and happiness for all.
Girish Gandhi a social activist, Sanjay Nahar founder President of Sarhad, Sanjiv Shah, Coordinator of North East, Dr.Alaka Sarma along with a host of other dignitaries were present in the programme.
