Huge quantity explosives recovered from lower Assam, two militants nabbed

Guwahati, Oct 25 (IBNS) : Assam police recovered huge quantity of explosives from Assam’s Kamrup district last night and arrested three persons in connection with it.

Acting on a tip-off, police had launched operation at Nagarbera area and recovered 475 detonators and 200 gelatin sticks from a boat.

Police arrested three persons identified as Hasan Ali, Halim Ali and Mustifur Rahman in connection with it.

Meanwhile Assam police has beefed up security across the state ahead of Diwali festival following Intelligence Bureau (IB) input for probable militants attack.

“Paresh Baruah led ULFA(I) and other militant groups are trying to create untoward situation in the state ahead of Diwali festival. We have issued alert all the districts in the state and take adequate security measures to prevent any situation,” Assam police Special DG Kuladhar Saikia said.

On the other hand, two NDFB(S) militants were nabbed by local peoples in Baska district on Tuesday.

Local villagers also torched two motorcycles which were used by the militants.

A pistol and other incriminating documents were recovered from the militants.
