Woman raped in Kolkata hotel: 4 including prime accused booked

Kolkata, Oct 28 (IBNS): Nearly 24 hours after a woman was allegedly raped by her Facebook friend in a Kolkata hotel, police on Thursday late night arrested four men, including prime accused Chittaranjan Patra, from Burtolla Police Station area in north part of the city, reports said.

According to reports, police officials nabbed four residents of Odisha- Chittaranjan Patra, Suryakanta Das, Prabhat Sahu and Swarup Sahu- in connection with the case.

Earlier on Wednesday late evening, a woman from North 24 Parganas district's New Barrackpore area was allegedly raped in a hotel in Kolkata's Beniapukur area by her Facebook friend, who directed her to attend a job interview in the hotel.

The 28-year-old woman also claimed that few others were also present in the hotel room, when the crime was committed.

After the woman submit a complaint at Beniapukur Police Station, police started investigation into the case and arrested these four persons.

They were produced in a local court in Kolkata on Friday and sent to police custody.

Meanwhile, the rape victim reportedly submitted secret testimony before a city court's magistrate on Friday and her medical tests have been done.
