Maharashtra: NCPCR asks Buldhana DM to submit report on alleged rape of a girl in Ashram School

New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS): The government on Friday said the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) of Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has taken cognizance of the reported incident of a rape of 13-year old girl at an Ashram School in Maharashtra and asked the District Magistrate to investigate and submit a detailed report within a week.

The incident occurred in the school located  under Hiwarkhed Police Station, District Buldhana, Maharashtra.

"The Commission took cognizance of Media reports on the alleged rape, under section 13(1)(j) of CPCR Act,2005 today and sought a copy of FIR, Medical Legal Report and the statements recorded under section 164 Cr.P.C," read the official statement.

Besides, the Commission has asked for information on action taken against the accused, the present status of the victim and action taken for safety of the child.

The Commission has also enquired about the reasons for not taking action on earlier complaint of the student and whether any such incident happened in the school previously and steps taken to protect students against such abuse.
