Patna, Nov 12 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): A college girl committed suicide after she was distressed at being dubbed as “bad-chalan” (of bad character).

The shocking incident took place at Lachhu Toal village in Bhojpur, a central Bihar district, located some 160 kms west of Patna.

According to reports, the victim Kumari, who was studying in Class XII, had gone out to meet nature call on Thursday evening when some seven youths allegedly sexually harassed her as she returned home crying.

On returning home, she informed her parents about the incidents after which local villagers decided to hold a ‘panchayat’ over the issue on Friday.

All youths accused of harassing her too were called in at the meet.

Reports said the accused termed the dubbed the girl as “bad-chalan” at the meet as someone conveyed her about the allegations levelled against her.

Shocked at the allegation, the victim committed suicide by hanging herself from roof even as the meeting was still in progress.

The victim was daughter of Bijadhar Ram.
