Tripura Governor writes a book on plight of minorities in Bangladesh
Speaking about the content of the book, Roy stated, although the fate and struggles of the Bengali Hindus who migrated to West Bengal after partition and political divisions of erstwhile in 1905, 1947 and 1971 has been documented many times over, the exodus and fate and persecution of the minorities including Hindus, Buddhists and Christians in Bangladesh has not been recorded.
Hence, Roy decided to write about the tale of persecution of these people.
Extreme research has been done on the subject and Roy stated the names of many authors, historians of both sides of Bengal as well as foreign authors whose writings added to his research.
Tripathi stated, the name of the book (The Land I Belonged To) spells out a sense of grief and remorse.
Former Chief Justice Chittatosh Mukherjee and the Managing Director of Mitra & Ghosh Publishers Sabitendranath Ray were also present amongst the dignitaries on the occasion.
