Assam CM condoles Ex-Governor SK Sinha's death

Guwahati, Nov 17 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the death of former Assam Governor Lt. General (Retd.) SK Sinha and said his service to the state will always be remembered by the people of Assam.

Lt. General SK Sinha served the state as Governor from 1997 to 2003 and passed away in New Delhi today after brief illness. 

The Assam CM said that late SK Sinha was a true friend of the state who always stood by its people.

“His role as Governor of Assam on the issue of illegal migration will be remembered by the people of the state forever,” Sonowal said.

The Assam CM further commented that late Sinha would continue to be remembered for his contribution in projecting Saint Srimanta Sankardev, General Lachit Borphukan and Gopinath Bordoloi as national heroes.

Sonowal also recalled the invaluable contributions of the former Governor in crafting unified command to tackle insurgency in the state as well as economic development and said that the nation would continue to remember his leadership and valiant service in the Indian Army as well as distinguished service as Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and Ambassador to Nepal.
