Assam CM directs all DC’s to set up ATM’s in each tea garden

Guwahati, Nov 18 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday instructed the all Deputy Commissioners to take steps for setting up of ATMs in each Tea garden of the state while interacting with them through video conference.

Underlining the need for timely and effective initiatives for improving the life of the tea garden workers, Sonowal also stressed on proactive measures for financial inclusion of the tea garden community and spoke about house to house visit by Customer Service Providers of different Banks for opening of accounts voluntarily under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana in uncovered areas.

The Assam CM also impressed upon the need for raising the awareness of the tea garden community on various Government Programmes and directed the Deputy Commissioners to implement awareness activities.

Sonowal has advocated strong action against illegal encroachment and directed all the Deputy Commissioners to collect detail information about encroached land for eviction.

The Assam CM further asked the DCs to apprise the State Government about the status of Land Bank in each district within one week for creating congenial environment for rapid industrialization and investment in the state.

Sonowal also directed the Deputy Commissioners to celebrate the Lachit Divas and Asom Divas in a befitting manner.

The Assam CM also asked the Deputy Commissioners to regularly monitor markets to check price rise and take steps for plantation of Medicinal Plants in every Government office.

Sonowal directed the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to release Rehabilitation Grants to the Deputy Commissioners within 10 days to facilitate quick disbursal of the same amongst beneficiaries.

CM’s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam Vinod Kumar Pipersenia and other senior officials of State Government were present in the Video Conference.
