Train tragedy: UP Chief Minister instructs officials to help in rescue and relief

New Delhi, Nov 20 (IBNS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday instructed officials to help the rescue and relief operation after the Patna-Indore Express derailed close to Kanpur city in the state, killing at least 63 people.


"#UPCM @yadavakhilesh directs DGP to personally to monitor relief op's of Train 9321 accident near Kanpur. All support to be extended," CM Office, GoUP tweeted.

"Senior District officials have reached the accident spot of Train 9321.More ambulances are rushed from Kanpur city. Special UPSRTC buses too," read another tweet.

"#UPCM @yadavakhilesh directs PS Health to personally monitor the Ambulance/Hospital services for the train 9321 accident," the tweet read.

Yadav instructed the Chief Secretary of the state to pool in all resources from the neighboring districts to enable quicker relief operations.

"All the hospitals in the neighboring districts have been activated.Private hospitals of Kanpur has been put on alert to accommodate patients," the official Twitter handle said.

At least 63 people were killed when the Patna-Indore Express  derailed close to Kanpur city in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, officials said.

The mishap has left several others injured.
