Nitish Kumar asks people who can't stay without alcohol to move out of Bihar
“Prohibition is permanent here and the government is not going to give any concession in this regard. Those who can’t stay without liquor are unwelcome in Bihar,” Kumar told a function in Patna on Saturday.
He expressed anguish over the continuing confiscation of alcohols from across the state and asked officials to act tough against such people.
Bihar imposed total ban on sale and consumption of liquor in April this year after getting full support from all parties in this regard.
Last fortnight, the chief minister said the sale of milk has increased by 11 percent since total prohibition was imposed in state, suggesting that prohibition has brought social revolution in Bihar.
He said the consumption of sweets, honey and other eatables too has registered a tremendous rise post liquor ban.
“Earlier the people were easting huge amount of money on buying alcohols. Post liquor ban, they are now using it to buy healthy foods and other items of their choice which has boosted the state’s economy,” Kumar told a rally in West Champaran.
