Kolkata: Two buses collide in Shyambazar, several hurt

Kolkata, Dec 12 (IBNS): At least 15 persons were injured in a head-on collision between two public buses of a same route near Shyambazar Five Point Crossing in north Kolkata on Monday afternoon, reports said.

According to reports, two over-speeding private buses of Bangur-BNR (Route no.: 227) route crashed into each other on R. G. Kar Road at around 3:30 pm.

Several passengers, including the drivers and conductors, of both buses were seriously injured in the accident.

Police force, fire and emergency services officials and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.

All injured persons were taken to R. G. Kar Hospital nearby and few of them were discharged after being provided first aid.

Drivers of these buses- Sambhu Jha and Mintu Mondal- are being treated in serious conditions, according to hospital reports.

A probe has been started into the matter to know the exact reason behind the accident.
