Massive IT raids across country : Rs. 6.43 crore seized from Delhi,Bengaluru,Panjim,Faridabad

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS) : In massive raids being conducted by Income Tax Department officials across the country, new and old notes worth Rs. 6.43 crore have so far been seized in Bengaluru, Panjim, Faridabad and Delhi reports said.

IT officials seized Rs. 2.25 crore in new notes in Bengaluru, while a whopping Rs. 3.25 crore was recovered in old notes in the national capital.

Reports said Panjim in Goa accounted for a recovery of Rs. 68 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh in the new Rs. 2000 notes was seized in Faridabad where four people were also arrested.

The reports quoted IT officials as saying that interrogation of the arrested people revealed that the money belongs to some Mumbai-based Hawala operators.

The raids are still going on.
