Guwahati, Dec 24 (IBNS) : Assam Rifles apprehended two hardcore NSCN(K) militants from Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Friday, officials said on Saturday.

Top official of Assam Rifles Chiranjeet Konwer said that based on specific intelligence input, the Jairampur battalion under DAO division launched an operation at Khamkhai village under Nampong circle in Changlang district and apprehended two hardcore militants.

The nabbed militant duo identified as Self Styled Corporal Rangtang Mungrey and Roshon Rai.

The Assam Rifles troops recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

“On spot interrogation, both militants admitted to be of NSCN (K) and revealed that they had undergone training in a NSCN (K) camp in Myanmar. The militants were actively involved in extortion and there apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground militants in the area,” Konwer said.

On the other hand, two hand grenades were found at the office complex cum godown of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution Department in Manipur on Dec 23.
