Rahul Gandhi demands weekly cash withdrawal limit be removed
In a series of tweets, he said, "Destroyed in the last 50 days: trust in the Prime Minister's word. Weekly cash withdrawal limits must go."
Incidentally, on Saturday, the Reseve Bank of India announced its decision to relax the daily ATM withdrawal limit to Rs 4,500 from the earlier cap of Rs 2,500 but did not alter the weekly withdrawal limit.
The 50-day deadline set by the Centre to submit old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes ended on Friday.
The Centre on Nov 8 banned old Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 currency notes.
Rahul Gandhi also tweeted in Hindi asking the PM to compensate the loss from note ban and posted a picture containing a list of demands, such as lift restrictions on withdrawal of money with immediate effect, compensate all bank account holders with special interest at 18 per cent per annum for the time restrictions are in place, all charges on digital transactions be abolished forthwith, etc.
