Note Ban: Mamata Banerjee slams Modi govt

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IBNS): With the 50-day deadline set by the Centre ended on Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday attacked Prime MInister Narendra Modi-led government and said it cannot snatch away people’s economic rights.

"Modi Babu, public are not beggars of your Government. Why are there still restrictions on cash withdrawal ?," Banerjee tweeted.

"50 days are now over. How can you take away the rights of citizens to withdraw their own hard-earned money ?," she said.

The Chief Minister said: "Governments may come into power but they just cannot snatch people’s economic rights."

The 50-day deadline set by the Centre to submit old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes ended on Friday.

The Centre on Nov 8 banned old Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 currency notes.
