Agni-IV successfully test-fired
The launch came exactly a week after India tested the Agni-V, the country's longest range nuclear capable missile.
Agni-IV is a two-stage, surface-to-surface missile that can travel 4,000 km and can carry a nuclear warhead weighing one tonne.
It has a range of more than 5,000 km.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) developed the missile, which is 20 metres long and weighs 17 tonnes.
