New Delhi, Jan 3 (IBNS): Speaking out on the mass molestation which took place in Bangalore on the new year's eve, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju has said that it cannot go unpunished.

Emphasising on women's safety, Rijiju tweeted, "We can't allow the shameful act of #MassMolestation go unpunished. Bangaluru is a vibrant city & women safety is must in a civilised society."

He also slammed the Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara for his comments, who said that events like harassment of women happen during new year and Christmas time.

"I condemn d irresponsible comment made by Karnataka Home Minister. City Police should catch all the identified culprits & put behind the bar," Rijiju's tweet read.

Rijiju had earlier said that the whole society must ponder over the collective failure and degrading mindset of the youth.

"I condemn the shameful harassment of women. It's not just an incident or law & order issue. Whole society has to ponder on degrading mindset," he had tweeted earlier.

The incident took place in Bangalore's MG Road, where inebriated men groped women.

"Whenever a woman passed the molesters groped and pawed them, taking advantage of the intense crowd...You can fight back one or two people but how do you fight a crowd," NDTV quoted a witness as saying.

"Everyone was drunk and pushing each other, people behaved indecently. They did not leave a single girl," the witness added.
