Srinagar, Jan 7 (IBNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, along with her party-men and family members, on Saturday visited her father’s grave in Bijbehara area of Anantnag in south Kashmir to offer prayers and commemorate the first death anniversary of Former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Mehbooba drove to Anantnag along with several cabinet ministers and family members to offer prayers and also put flowers on his father's grave.

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed died on this day last year due to multiple organ failure at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi.

Peoples Democratic Party marked his death anniversary across parts of the Valley.

However, due to heavy snowfall many programs were called off.

“To commemorate the first death anniversary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) founder and former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, a function is being organised at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium Srinagar today,” said party a communiqué.

There have been reports that the late leader, who also served as a union minister in early 90's will be posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan award on this Republic Day eve.
