Israeli Minister of Agriculture returns to India
During his visit, the Minister will take part in the inaugurations of Vibrant Gujarat and an Indo-Israeli Agricultural Project (IIAP) Center of Excellence in Kolar, Karnataka.
In the course of his visit, the Minister will meet in Gujarat with PM Modi and CM of Gujarat Rupani, in Delhi with Minister of Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh and Minister of Water Resources, Smt. Uma Bharti, and in Mumbai with Minister of Agriculture of Maharashtra Fundkar.
This is Minister Ariel’s second visit to India in under a year, hot on the heels of the visits by the President of Israel and the Israeli Minister for Science and Technology.
Minister Ariel last visited India in April 2016 when Israel was a Partner Country in “India Water Week”.
His visit was followed by a reciprocal visit of Federal Minister of Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh, to Israel in September later that year.
Israel’s participation in Vibrant Gujarat will also include a Country Seminar Jan 11, dedicated to doubling the farmer’s income via the Indo-Israeli agricultural cooperation alongside Indian counterparts in the IIAP and local farmers.
Speaking on the upcoming visit by Minister Uri Ariel, Israel’s Ambassador to India, Daniel Carmonsaid, “India and Israel’s relations today, marking the beginning of the 25th year of our diplomatic relations, are stronger and more visible than ever before. The second visit of the Minister of Agriculture within a year proves that Israel is committed to being India’s technological partner in agriculture, water and every other field of mutual interest.”
At the inauguration of the IIAP Center of Excellence for mangoes in Kolar, Karnataka, the minister will be accompanied by Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah, Minister of Agriculture Byre Gowda and Minister of Horticulture Mallikarjun.
This center is the 13th to be inaugurated out of the 26 centers in the project.
