New Delhi, Jan 11 (IBNS ): Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of destroying the country's economy through his demonetisation move, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said good days will come only when the Congress comes to power in 2019.

"People of country are wondering when are 'Acche din going to come'. I'll tell them it will come when Congress comes to power again in 2019," he said while addressing the national convention of Congress.

Claiming that demonetiation was a personal decision of PM Modi, Gandhi said the country has gone back 16 years and the country's financial backbone has been broken.

Rahul sad as a fall out of notes ban that has created cash crunch, there has been migration of people to villages.

“PM Modi must ask why has the demand for MNREGA suddenly surged, why are people migrating for villages instead of cities?"

He alleged that the present BJP-led Government had weakened premier institutions as the  RBI Governor is being ridiculed.

"All the service  that Congress did to institutions, judiciary, RBI, respect of press in 70 years, Modi govt and RSS destroyed it all in just 2.5 years," he said.

Taking a dig at the PM over his initiatives like Swachh Bharat, digital India and Make in India, Rahul asked him to ‘spend some time with pooor.’

"Prime Minister needs to spend sometime with the poor, farmers of the country and ask them why suddenly people  are running to villages?," he said.

Rahul chaired a meeting of the Working Committee in the absence of party chief Sonia Gandhi who was said to be unwell.
