Kolkata, Jan 11 (IBNS): Local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and rail-mafia A. Srinibasan Naidu alias Srinu Naidu and his close-aide V. Dharma, who were injured in a shooting in Kharagpur in West Medinipur district of West Bengal on Wednesday afternoon, died in the late evening, reports said.

According to reports, at least five TMC activists, including Srinu Naidu, were shot when few unidentified miscreants hurled crude bombs and fired bullets indiscriminately, aiming at them, at a Trinamool party office in Kharagpur town at around 3 pm.

Sustaining bullet wounds, five TMC leader-activists were rushed to nearby hospitals.

As Srinu and Dharma's health conditions deteriorated, they were taken to a private hospital in Kolkata later, where both were declared brought dead.

Remaining three are undergoing treatment in serious conditions in Medinipur Medical College and Hospital, reports said.

However, police form Kharagpur Town Police Station have started probe into the case.

TMC leaders avoided to speak on the incident.

"As the matter is under investigation, I won't comment on it," a senior TMC leader told IBNS.

"Why, how and by whom Srinu Naidu and another youth were killed, will be known after investigation," the leader added.
