Kolkata, Jan 13 (IBNS): Police on Friday morning arrested one man from Midnapore city in West Bengal's West Medinipur district for sending letter with death threat to former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, officials said.

According to reports, Nirmalya Samanta, who is a resident of Arabinda Nagar in Midnapore city and sells newspapers in the area, was held by local police and later handed over to the Kolkata Police.

Earlier on Jan 5, former captain of Indian cricket team and current president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Sourav Ganguly, reportedly received an anonymous letter, where Ganguly was threatened to be killed if he visits West Medinipur in future.

On the next day, he lodged a complaint at local police station and police had begun probe into the matter.

However, the arrested man is likely to be produced to a city court on Friday.
