Kolkata, Jan 16 (IBNS): A large number of Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters allegedly attacked actor-turned-Union Minister Babul Supriyo's convoy at Andal in West Bengal's Burdwan district on Monday evening, reports said.

According to reports, while the minister was entering DVC plant at Durgapur for routine visit, TMC activists held agitation, stopping his vehicle, over demonetisation issue and the arrests of TMC MPs Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Tapas Pal.

Protesters also showed him black flags and tried to prevent the Union Minister from entering the DVC plant.

The MP of Asansol Lok Sabha constituency claimed that agitators pelted stones aiming at his car and tried to vandalize it.

"During a regular visit 2 DSTPS, Durgapur. As usual, aggressive TMC goons stone pelting & trying to break my car," Babul Supriyo tweeted.

However, CISF personnel and local police force brought the situation under control, avoiding any untoward incident.
