West Bengal: Clashes erupt between locals and police over power-grid installation at Bhangar, protesters shot
Sustaining bullet wounds, those villagers have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Since Tuesday morning, protesting against the installation of a power plant, a large number of villagers have started demonstration at several locations in Bhangar assembly constituency area.
A large number of police force, including Rapid Action Force (RAF), were deployed to the area and when policemen tried to disperse protesters by restoring to lathicharge, they engaged in a clashe with villagers.
Several police vehicles were reportedly vandalized and threw to ponds, while few cops were injured in the clash.
However, after getting direction from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, state power department has announced to cancel the project in Bhangar.
Till the last update came in, all security personnel have fled from the village, while all entrances to the area have been cordoned off by locals.
