Nagaland : 13 NSCN militants apprehended, huge cache of arms seized

Guwahati, Jan 19 (IBNS) : Assam Rifles troops have apprehended 13 NSCN(IM) insurgents in Nagaland's Mon district and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Kohima-based Defence PRO Col Chiranjeet Konwar said the troops of 35 Assam Rifles on Wednesday had apprehended the militants on Mon-Tizit road when they were travelling in two vehicles.

The troops carried out the operation  following reports of extortion by  militants.

The Defence PRO said the security personnel recovered four AK-56 rifles, two HK-32 rifles, one MA-MK4 rifle, four pistols and huge quantity of live ammunitions besides other articles from them.

The militants and the seized  arms and ammunition were later handed over to Mon district police.
