Over 150 Assam youths in touch with ISIS : IB

Guwahati, Jan 19 (IBNS) : As the ISIS threatens to conduct major terror attacks in India, a document submitted by Intelligence Bureau (IB) to the Union Home Ministry reveals that more than 150 youths from Assam have been in touch with the terrorist group, out to make its network in the state.

According to a  top source in the IB,  the ISIS has already made its base in Assam with the help of some organisations.

"These overground organisations have worked for ISIS in Assam and. They get monetary support from ISIS," the top IB source said.

The source said  an ISIS terrorist was apprehended in Assam last year.

"We have found vital clues that terror groups like Neo-JMB, MULTA, MTFA, Indian Mujahideen and  SIMI  are jointly working with ISIS and trying to establish launching pads along the international border in North East India," the source said.

The  issue was raised at the special security meeting held in Guwahati last week in presence of Assam DGP, the Union Home Secretary (NE) and the  top officials of army and IB.

Meanwhile, a top official of Assam Police also said that the ISIS is trying to establish its  network in the state.

Last year, more than 40 jihadis incuding 24 of JMB and  six of MTFA were apprehended by the security forces from different areas of the state.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday said that last year it arrested 112 people and 64 of them were linked to  jihadi terror.

The top security body arrested 52 people in 12 ISIS related cases.
