Guwahati, Jan 21 (IBNS) : Arrested former Chairman of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Rakesh Paul faced another problem after a local court on Saturday sent him to five days police custody in connection with another cash-for-job case loadged in 2014 against Paul.

The former APSC Chairman was produced before the Special court in Guwahati in connection with the Agriculture department job scam case registered at Dispur police station.

Paul, arrested on November 4 last year in connection with the massive cash-for-job scam, was in judicial custody, but he was produced before the court on Saturday in a case relating to recruitment of Agricultural Development Officer by APSC.

According to the reports, a complaint was lodged against Paul by a person named Arup Kumar Nath at Dispur police station in 2014, who paid Rs 3 lakh to Paul against a post against the demanding amount of Rs 15 lakh.

Arup Kumar Nath said that he paid Paul Rs 3 lakh but he still rejected despite scoring high qualifying marks in the ADO examination.

Meanwhile, Guwahati city police Commissioner Hiren Nath said that, the police has been taken the entire matter seriously and formed an investigating team under a DCP.

"We have already an investigating team under a DCP and the team will look the matter," Hiren Nath said.

Earlier, Assam police had arrested six persons including Paul and his two associate members Samedur Rahman, Basanta Doley and an assistant examination comptroller in the APSC cash-for-job scam.
