The Defence spokesperson said that the Army Chief was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the poll bound state by the local commanders.
The Army Chief also reviewed the operational preparedness of the formations during his visit to the state and appreciated the endeavours of security forces.
"He lauded the efforts of the soldiers for ensuring peace and tranquility in the state and also asked them to continue the good work in a professional manner and in the true spirit of the Friends of the Manipur," said in a Defence press release.
Later Bipin Rawat called on the Manipur governor Dr Najma Heptulla and discussed about the present security situation in the state.
Manipur is going to hold the assembly poll on March 4 and 8.
The north eastern Indian state witnessed several untoward incidents, militants attack during the protests and economic blockade imposed by United Naga Council ( UNC) since November 1.
The Army Chief visited Assam on Tuesday and reviewed the security situation in the state with top security officials.
