Guwahati, Jan 30 (IBNS) : The Assam government has agreed to withhold counter insurgency operations by the security forces against the Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) till Apr 20 next following the outfit group had declared unilateral ceasefire for a period of six months from October 20 last.

The Karbi outfit group had declared unilateral ceasefire for a six months period from October 20 last, which they communicated through a letter signed by its General Secreatary Vojaru Hanjang.

The outfit groups also expressed their desire to come to the main stream in the interest of restoring peace and all round development in the hill district.

“The Assam government welcomes the above gesture of the organisation and sincerely hopes that all the group members along with the weapons retained by them, will come forward to the main stream at the earliest, so that the strength of the organisation can be fruitfully channelized to the productive purpose for the all round development of Assam in general and Karbi Anglong in particular,” said in a statement.

The state government agreed to withhold counter insurgency operations by the Security Forces against KPLT till April 20, 2017 as a mark of good gesture to the members of the outfit to enable them to come to the main stream.
