Nitish Kumar pulls out of UP polls to help BJP, alleges ex Bihar CM Manjhi

Patna, Feb 3 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday alleged the Janata Dal United pulled out of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections to indirectly help the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the polls.

“Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has constantly extended hands of friendship to the BJP and his decision about not contesting assembly elections in UP was simply aimed at helping the saffron camp,” alleged Manjhi who heads the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) in Bihar.

The HAM is an ally of the BJP-led NDA.

He said Bihar CM was constantly trying to join the NDA.

“And, if he does that I will welcome him into the NDA,” Manjhi told local media.

According to Manjhi, gap between Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has narrowed down in recent months.

The JD-U headed by Bihar CM in a curious move has kept on supporting the demonetization drive of the Centre while both its coalition partners, the RJD of Lalu Prasad and the Congress, have gone on strongly opposing the move.

Kumar has also supported the “surgical strike” of the Modi government against Pakistan.
