N Biren Singh takes over Manipur CM, eight other cabinet ministers sworn-in
Eight other members of the new cabinet, all but one of them being from the post-poll allies, also took oath along with along with Singh.
Among them is Y Joykumar Singh of the National People's Party (NPP).
The BJP, which won 21 seats, ten short of the required 31 to form a Government, has claimed that it has the support of 33 legislators in the 60-member Manipur assembly.
The lone Lok Janshakti Party legislator Karma Shyam, who is supporting the BJP, has been given a cabinet berth.
The Naga People's Front or NPF has offered external support of its four legislators. It will not be a part of the Government.
Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah had invited the BJP - led coalition to form Government, after Biren Singh staked claim saying he has the right number.
However, the Governor asked Biren Singh to prove majority on the floor of the house "as soon as possible.
The Congress, which won the most seats, 28 to become the single largest party, could not gather the support of three more legislators.
It has accused the BJP of using "money power" to form Government in Goa and Manipur.
