Sushma Swaraj helps Indian in distress in Pakistan

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IBNS): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday extended her help to an Indian woman who is married in Pakistan and was mistreated by her in-laws in the neighbouring nation.

The victim was identified as Mohammadia Begum.

"I received a Youtube message from Shri Mohammad Akbar that his daughter Mohammadia Begum an, Indian national was married in Pakistan and was being ill-treated by her inlaws Our mission sent a Note Verbale requesting the safety, security and well-being of Mohammadia Begum," Swaraj tweeted.

"Our High Commission officials met Mohammadia Begum and she expressed her desire to return to India," she said.

She said: "I have asked Indian High Commission to renew her Indian passport and facilitate her return to India."
