Kolkata: BJP activists hold protest march over Narada issue, scuffle with police
A large number of party activists, led by BJP's state president Dilip Ghosh, took part in the rally.
Starting from College Square in north Kolkata, the massive march ended at city's downtown Esplanade area.
When police tried to stop the rally by setting up barricades, agitators engaged in a scuffle with the policemen.
A heavy police force were deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.
Bengal BJP's president Dilip Ghosh claimed that a woman supporter of the party, Rai Dey, was injured during the demonstration as a brick was thrown at her by unidentified outsiders.
Senior officials of the city police said that police controlled the situation in a peaceful way and no protester was held during the agitation.
BJP leaders, however, said that their protest over Narada issue will be strengthened in future until strict action is taken against the accused.
After being directed by the Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started preliminary enquiry into Narada scam.
