New Delhi, Mar 22 (IBNS): The Election Commission has frozen the party symbol of AIADMK over the dispute between Sasikala and Paneerselvam camps ahead of by-election in late former CM J Jayalalitha's constituency, media reports on Wednesday.

Both the camps went to EC claiming the 'two leaves' symbol prior to the by-election.

While Paneerselvam told EC that Sasikala could not retain the symbol since she was convicted, Sasikala camp claimed the symbol citing the reason that they had the support of majority party members as well as MLAs.

EC however informed that they need to examine more the documents submitted the two camps.

Both the camps now have to choose a new symbol in the by-election that would held in April.

The constituency of R K Nagar would go to poll next month which had fallen vacant after after J Jayalalitha's demise.
