Passengers protest against Rajdhani Express for poor quality food
The poor quality food led to food poisoning of six passengers who were travelling.
Complaining about the quality of food provided, one passenger said: "The food quality in the train is poor and the timing of serving the food is equally bad. When the passengers spend such a substantial amount for travelling in a train, they expect a better quality and service but that is often not available here. At least six passengers from our train fell ill yesterday (Monday) after eating dinner."
Calling the incident to be "lone", the Eastern Railway authorities ensured an investigation into the complaint.
"This is a one off incident. The train was carrying around 1,200 passengers. Of them 5-6 passengers from a specific coach have complained about the food quality. We are investigating the matter. Appropriate action would be taken," a spokesman of Eastern Railway said.
Union minister Babul Supriyo who is also a MP from Asansol constituency of West Bengal, sharing his own experience of travelling in Rajdhani said that quality of food and service in Rajdhani are often "utterly disappointing".
Passengers protested in both Sealdah and Asansol stations.
