Mulayam attacks former UP CM Akhilesh, calls him betrayer

Lucknow, Apr 1 (IBNS): Widening the family discord, Samajwadi Party veteran Mulayam Singh Yadav unsparingly attacked his son and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for betraying him after handing over the topmost administrative post in 2012, on Saturday, media reports.

Supporting PM Modi's jibe at Akhilesh during an election campaign in UP, Mulayam said: "It is true that a person who betrayed his own father cannot be loyal to anyone."

Before the UP elections, Akhilesh removed uncle Shivpal Yadav from ministry as a counter to Mulayam's action of ousting leaders close to Akhilesh.

Mulayam even said that he was the only father to leave the chair of CM for his son, though he was voted to power.

Akhilesh, who became the Chief Minister of UP in 2012 for the first time, allied with the Congress party in 2017 assembly election against the wishes of his father.

The SP received a crushing defeat against Bharatiya Janata Party in assembly election 2017, as their seat share were reduced to double digit figures.

Referring to the kind of treatment he received from his son Akhilesh, Mulayam said: "I have never been insulted so much ever in my life."

Citing the reason for his comments on SP party President, Mulayam said that he do not want people of UP to misunderstand him.
