TMC MP Dola Sen argues with Air India staff over seating

New Delhi/Kolkata, Apr 7 (IBNS): Reminding the incident occurred between Air India staff member and Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad last month, Trinamool Congress MP Dola Sen allegedly got engaged herself in quarrelling with a staff member of the national carrier over the issue of seating on Friday, media reports.

The quarrel between Sen and AI staff member led to the delay of the flight's take off for around 30 minutes, which was coming from New Delhi to Kolkata.

Sen was travelling with her wheel chair bound mother and wanted the emergency seat for the latter, despite of repeated rejections by the AI staff.

Sen's mother was given another seat later.

AI said that they would investigate the whole matter.

The incident happened on a day when Air India on Friday lifted a flying ban imposed on Shiv Sena Lok Sabha member Ravindra Gaikwad for allegedly assaulting a veteran employee of the national carrier, reports said.

The decision came after the Civil Aviation Minister asked  the Air India to withdraw the restrictions on the controversial MP, who on Thursday had regretted the incident and requested to reverse the ban.

Only on Friday, Air India Employees Union asserted that the ban will continue unless the MP tenders unconditional apology.

The Government as well as the Civil Aviation Minister came in for a trouble and was under pressure of the Shiv Sena as the party's MPs kicked up a ruckus in the Lok Sabha on Thursday protesting the flying ban on Gaikwad.

The Shiv Sena MP from Osmanabad was denied permission by Air India and six others airlines to fly.

AI cancelled his tickets between Mumbai and Delhi booked for Apr 17 and 24.

Gaikwad had allegedly assaulted an Air India manager on board a flight on Mar 23.

Gaikwad, who earlier had  admitted on TV having hit the 60-year-old AI employee with his slippers 25 times, claimed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that he had only "shoved" the man after being abused.
