Assam: State Election Commission set to hold KAAC poll, appoints returning officers
A top source of the State Election Commission said that, the Commission has prepared arrangements to hold the council election on the month of May.
Recently, a high level meeting of the State Election Commission was held and various issues including security measures were discussed in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has appointed the returning officers for the 26 constituencies under the council.
The Commission has appointed the returning officers by issuing a notification no SEC.53/2016/180.
According to the notification, the Commission has appointed the Deputy Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong district, Hamren as the returning officer for Duar Amla, Amri, Chinthong, Socheng, Rongkhang, Bithung Rengthema, Kapili, Hamren, Amreng constituencies while the Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong district, Diphu has been appointed as the returning officer for Howraghat, Langfer, Phuloni, Langhin, Korkanthi, Mohamaya, Na-Mati, Lumbajong, Dhansiri, Singhason constituencies under the council.
The Commission also appointed the Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Bokajan for Socheng Dhenta, Borjan, Sarupathar, Bokajan, Deopani, Nilip and Duar Bagori constituencies under KAAC.
On the other hand, the Commission has appointed several government officials to perform the functions of returning officer.
The Commission appointed the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Irrigation department, Donkamukam and ACF, O/O the RFO, Umjakini Range returning officers for Duar Amla, BDO Amri and CDPO, ICDS, Amri for Amri, AEE, PWD (R), Umpani for Chinthong, AEE, PWD (R), Rongbangbong, BDO, Chinthong for Socheng, AEE, PWD (R), Baithalanso and ADO, O/O the SDAO, Hamren for Rongkhang constituency as the authorized officers to perform the functions of returning officer
According to the notification, the State Election Commission also appointed two government officials for each constituency as the authorized officers to perform the functions of returning officer.
