The incident took place at Badakar village in Nalanda, the home district of chief minister Nitish Kumar.
“They (in-laws) tied her hands and feet before setting her afire. They didn’t spare her two-year-old son who was killed in similar manner,” victim’s brother Rakesh Kumar told the police on Saturday.
Police have registered a case against six persons in this regard. All are absconding.
The incident comes amid appeals by chief minister Nitish Kumar to boycott marriages of those taking dowry. He made this appeal at a function held in Patna on Friday.
According to a latest official report, a total of 987 women were killed for dowry last year. In 2015, altogether 1,154 women were killed for similar reason.
