Assam govt to set up auditorium after the name of Medini Chowdhury

Guwahati, Apr 20 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday said that Sarania Kacharis are one of the ancient ethnic tribes of Assam.

This ethnic tribe has a distinct cultural and spiritual identity. Bah Gosai is the ardent deity of Sarania Kacharis.

While speaking at a function held at Sarania Kachari Sammanya Kshetra at Senduri Gopa in Kamrup district, the Assam CM said that through worshiping Bah Gosai or lord Shiva the Sarania Kacharis make their connection evident with the nature.

This ethnic tribe with its capability of working hard will make its presence as the strongest tribe in the globe, said he.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal announced that the government would set up an auditorium after the name of the novelist Medini Chowdhury who wrote Ferengadao.

He also said that guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Sabka Saath Sabka Bikash, the present State Government is also working resolutely for the welfare of all 3.20 crore people of the state.       

Underscoring the need of solving the problems faced by Sarania Kacharis, Sonowal said that his government is committed to solve all the outstanding problems faced by them and help to contribute to the development of the State.

Citing that the development of rural areas is the paramount importance of the government, the Assam CM said that for the all-round development of all the villages, state government has launched Chief Minister’s Sammagra Grammya Unnayan Achoni and stimulate development of the rural areas.

He also said that the State Government has set up a high powered committee to facilitate allotment of land pattas to the indigenous people of the State.

On this occasion, All Assam Sarania Kachari Students’ Union also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister which the Chief Minister assured to look into them sympathetically.
