Indian benchmark indices close positive on Wednesday, Sensex crosses 30000 mark for the first time

Mumbai, Apr 26 (IBNS): On Wednesday, it was time to put in a stellar performance by the Sensex, closing above the 30000 mark for the first time ever, thus matching the Nifty's record on Tuesday of crossing the 9300 mark for the first time.

On Wednesday, the BSE Sensex  was up 190.11 points at 30,133.35 while the NSE Nifty was up 45.25 points at 9,351.85 ahead of the  expiry of the April futures and options contracts.

Some of the key stocks that gained were M&M, ITC, HDFC, Hindalco, HUL and ICICI Bank while Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Dr Reddy's Labs, Reliance and BHEL declined.
