New Delhi, May 4 (IBNS) : The CBI on Thursday registered a case against Dr. Tarun Seem, a former health secretary of Delhi Government for wrongful engagement of private firms for providing security in emergency ward of seven hospitals, the Hindustan Times reported.

The agency also conducted searches at Delhi government offices, including the office of health secretary Madhup Vyas and the residence of  Seem.

“The firms were engaged for augmenting security in the emergency area of the hospitals of Delhi government and huge loss was caused to the government exchequer. The total cost of the work was approximately Rs 10.50 crore,” a CBI official has been quoted by the HT as saying.

The case assumes significance as the health department falls under AAP minister Satyendar Jain against whom the CBI had registered a preliminary enquiry (PE) last month on allegations of money laundering.
