NSDC plans to fast track its Center Accreditation and Affiliation process

New Delhi, May 4 (IBNS): Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the flagship outcome-based scheme of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), aims to deliver high quality training and improve the placement opportunities for the candidates.

The scheme aims at standardising the training infrastructure across the country in order to meet certain minimum guidelines.

The Quality Council of India (QCI) have been  assisting NSDC in operationalising end-to-end centre accreditation and affiliation process through a web based solution for Center Accreditation, Affiliation and Continuous Monitoring called SMART.

More than 4,500 training partners have registered over 10,000 centres on SMART.  Nearly, 6,100 centres have been inspected, of which around 4,100 centres have been recommended for accreditation by QCI.  The inspection which aims to cover the entire country also has had its share of challenges at various stages of Accreditation and Affiliation process during initial months.

Given the magnitude of work, speed and accuracy of inspection expected and resolve of the government to implement PMKVY at speed and scale, NSDC has decided to take on board additional private agencies for inspection of Training Partners.

Manish Kumar, MD & CEO, NSDC said, “While QCI has assisted in accrediting 4,100 training centres in the last 9 months, we have realized managing such a large mandate will require consolidated effort of multiple agencies for strengthening our Center Accreditation and Affiliation process. We have discussed existing challenges with top management of QCI, who have assured us to resolve the issues and further improve turnaround time.  We are satisfied that QCI will  work at a faster pace, collaboratively to improve the process of inspection as we go forward in areas assigned to them."
