"India is extremely proud of our scientists at @Isro for the successful launch of #SouthAsiaSatellite- shining example of mutual co-operation," Congress leader Randeep S Surjewala tweeted.
Creating history and carrying a 450-crore communications satellite, the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle or GSLV lifted off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on Friday and was launched successfully.
The satellite has been gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to six South Asian countries.
