Kolkata, May 11(IBNS): A suo-motu FIR was lodged by the West Bengal Police on Thursday against the state president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Dilip Ghosh and leader Locket Chatterjee for holding bike rally without permission in North Dinachpur a day back, media reports.

Apart from the bike rally, FIR was also lodged against the two BJP leaders for not wearing helmets, while riding bike.

Ghosh and Chatterjee held a bike rally in North Dinachpur area for the upcoming municipality election, though the election commission did not permit such activities.

Chatterjee, in a press conference on Thursday, said that they would wear the helmet only if the Muslim preacher removes the red beacon which was also against the recent law.

A Muslim preacher was seen to use the red beacon few days back and stated that he would not remove it.

In the last month, the central government made a law banning the use of red beacon and only the emergency services were exempted who can use blue beacons.
