Anshu Jamsenpa scales Mount Everest for 4th time, sets new record
She is the first woman in the world to scale Mt. Everest four times.
Dawa S Lama, managing director at Dream Himalaya Adventure, said that Anshu Jamsenpa along with Furi Sherpa of Nepal scaled the world’s highest peak successfully.
The mountaineer has earlier scaled Mount Everest thrice.
The 32-year-old, mother of two teenage girls, conquered the world's highest peak twice in 10 days between May 12 and 21, 2011.
She made her third successful attempt on May 18, 2013.
Anshu’s double ascent expedition was flagged off this year by Dalai Lama on 2nd April from Guwahati. If she is successful with her double ascend this time, Anshu will add to her record of climbing Everest five times.
Addressing journalists here in Guwahati this afternoon her PR Manager Nanda Kirati Dewan said, "Anshu had started the summit expedition after 38 days of acclimatization at Everest Base Camp to Camp 1,2,3 and Camp 4 from 4th April to 12th May 2017. On 13th May 2017 Saturday morning she started at 1.45 am IST for the final summit and reached on top of the Everest at 9am IST today to unfurl the Indian National Flag with pride. The good news that she is absolutely well and fine and shall attempt double expedition."
Officials at the Everest Base Camp and Kathmandu spoke to Anshu over satellite phone from highest peak of the world after unfurling the Indian Tri-colour and clicking testimonial photos.
Anshu thanked all her family, friends and supporters back home. Her health is stated to be perfectly fine and is descending now to the base camp.
She acknowledged supports extended by SBI, NEC, NRL, NEEPCO, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, TopCem and all her previous associates for this successful expedition.
She is motivated and energized to try double ascent if conditions remains favorable while her family has sought blessings and support from the people of India.
