Special session likely in Parliament to mark GST rollout

New Delhi, June 20 (IBNS) : A special midnight session of Parliament is likely to mark the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, its landmark legislation, in the intervening night of June 30-July 1, reports said.

The special session of both Houses is proposed to be held for little more than hour  from 11pm on June 30 till 00:10am on July 1.

The brief session will be attended, among others, by  President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who will  address the MPs.

According to reports, former Prime Ministers  Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda are also expected to be present on this occasion at the invitation of the Government.

Invitation will be extended also to all the Chief Ministers.
