Modi reaches Tel Aviv, commences his historic Israel visit

Tel Aviv, July 4 (IBNS): Creating history, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his Israel tour as he reached the country on Tuesday.

Modi was welcomed by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Praising Modi, he said the Indian Prime Minister is a 'great world leader'.

"Welcome to Israel...Aapka Swagat Hai Mere Dost. We have been waiting for you, for a long time. We love India," the Israel PM said welcoming the Indian leader.

He said: "You are a great leader of India and a great world leader."

He said together with Modi he can make India-Israel relation 'better'.

Modi said it was an honour for him to be the first PM from India to visit Israel.

"My honour to be the 1st ever Indian PM to undertake this ground breaking visit to Israel," Modi said after reaching the country.

Modi said thanked his Israel counterpart for inviting him to visit the nation.

"I thank my friend PM @netanyahu for receiving me. My visit is about the strength of our societies and our strong partnership," he said.

Speaking on India-Israel relationship, Modi said: "We consider Israel an important development partner."

Speaking on the issue of terrorism, Modi said: "We have to secure our societies against the common threat of terrorism."
